ABB Contactor AF370: reliable power control for industrial installations

The ABB AF370-40-11-13 contactor is designed for applications where operational continuity and high maneuverability are required. The four-pole (4P) configuration makes it particularly versatile: it allows control of three-phase circuits with neutral, management of distributed loads, or controlled sectioning on multiple lines. It is a typical choice in distribution boards, large-scale HVAC systems, industrial automation, and motor starts with high absorption.

Wide range coil 100-250 VAC/DC: one code for multiple installations

One of the strengths of the AF series is the wide-range coil: 100-250 VAC/DC. This means that the same contactor can be used on installations with different control power supplies (AC or DC), reducing the need to stock multiple variants and speeding up replacement interventions. In production environments, this flexibility translates into simpler maintenance and reduced plant downtime.

Electrical performance: AC-1 for resistive loads, AC-3 for motors

The AF370 model offers significant ratings both in AC-1 (predominantly resistive or slightly inductive loads) and in AC-3 (motor operation). In AC-1 it reaches up to 525 A at 690 V (40°C), with values adapting to operating temperatures (e.g., 425 A at 60°C). In AC-3 it maintains 370 A at 55°C on multiple typical motor supply voltages, with nominal powers reaching 200 kW at 380/400-440 V. This makes it suitable for process lines, pumps, compressors, fans, and power units where switching reliability is essential.

Contacts: power 4NO and auxiliary 1NO+1NC for complete logic

The provision of 4 main NO contacts allows power switching on 4 poles, while the auxiliary contacts 1 NO + 1 NC are perfect for status signaling, self-holding, consents, interlocks, and integration with PLCs or control circuits. It is a very practical configuration because it avoids the immediate addition of external auxiliary blocks in many standard applications.
