The NFXI-BEAM series (with advanced protocol) and the 6500R series consist of long-range optical beam smoke detectors designed for the protection of open areas. They consist of a transmitter/receiver unit and a reflector panel.


The presence of smoke in the space between the two components causes attenuation of the signal returning to the receiver. When the attenuation reaches the alarm threshold (selectable on the transmitter/receiver unit), the detector generates an alarm signal. Complete obscuration of the optical beam causes a fault signal. Long-term beam attenuation due to increased dirt and dust on the detector lens is compensated internally by a microprocessor that continuously monitors the signal amplitude and periodically updates the alarm and failure thresholds.

When compensation reaches its limit, the detector generates a fault signal and indicates the need for maintenance. Five models are available of which three are analog NFXIBEAM-40, NFXI-BEAM, NFXI-BEAM-T and two are conventional, 6500R and 6500RS. he NFXI-BEAMT and 6500RS models include a built-in calibrated and servo-assisted filter that automatically allows remote alarm generation for testing.

The linear smoke detector has an optical transmit and receive unit (TRX) enclosed in a single apparatus and a reflector to be placed on the opposite side. This apparatus is the ideal solution for fire protection in rooms having high artistic historical interest, rooms in which minimal environmental impact must be used against a high degree of safety and reliability.

The linear detector has a working distance ranging from 5 to 70 meters with a maximum side protection of 15 m. If the beam is obstructed a fault signal is given, and once the obstruction is removed the unit can reset and return to normal operation. The linear detector is particularly suitable for the protection of lobbies, churches, museums and all areas characterized by high ceilings, for which the use of normal point smoke detectors is difficult.

Considering that both absorption and scattering of infrared light cause signal reduction, the device detects both brooding and fast-developing fires. The unique alignment technique allows quick and easy adjustment thanks to the function-specific viewfinder and mirror ensuring perfect alignment between detector and reflector.

The detector has built-in automatic gain control to compensate for signal deterioration due to dust or dirt. Sensitivity can be adjusted to 6 levels using the sensitivity button and digital display, with 2 levels variable according to the environment. The detector has contacts and remote outputs for alarm and fault. Thanks to a special interface equipped with rotary switches (for addressing 01-99), NFXI-BEAM detectors can talk with NOTIFIER analog control panels.
