Thermostatic actuator Watts 148A: intelligent radiator control
The Watts Series 148A thermostatic actuator is an automatic regulation device designed for radiator heating systems. Installed on thermostatic valves, it allows control of the temperature of individual rooms by directly acting on the flow of hot water feeding the heating body. The result is more uniform comfort, without heat peaks, and more rational consumption management, room by room.

Energy saving and compliance: comfort where needed, energy where it counts
The use of thermostatic devices for radiators is required by Italian regulations (often referred to as Law 10/91) and arises from the need to reduce waste. The Watts 148A, coupled with a thermostatic valve, adapts the power emitted by the radiator to the desired temperature and utilizes the free contributions present in the room: sun, appliances, presence of people. In practice, when the environment naturally heats up, the valve reduces the flow of hot water, avoiding unnecessary consumption. The energy efficiency class I further enhances the installation from an efficiency perspective.
How it works: liquid element and automatic regulation
Inside the knob is a liquid-sensitive element that reacts to changes in ambient temperature: expanding or contracting, it acts on the valve shutter stem. If the temperature exceeds the set value (set point), the actuator commands the progressive closure of the shutter, reducing the flow of hot water to the radiator; if the temperature drops, it initiates the opening and increases circulation. The Watts thermostatic valve is designed with low thermal inertia, with a response time of less than 30 minutes, so the system reacts quickly and more easily maintains the desired temperature.
Simple adjustment and antifreeze protection
The adjustment is intuitive thanks to the graduated scale from 0 to 5, with an adjustment range of 8°C 28°C. There is also an antifreeze position at 8°C, useful for rarely inhabited houses, second homes, and technical rooms: it prevents the temperature from dropping too low, protecting the system and reducing risks associated with cold. The possibility of temperature limitation and blocking is a plus in shared environments (offices, hospitality structures, condominiums), where controlled set-points are desired.
Materials and compatibility: practical installation and durability
The Watts 148A is constructed with stainless steel springs and an ABS handwheel, materials chosen for resistance and ease of use. It is supplied with an adapter ring for use with TRV valves, simplifying compatibility and speeding up installation. The maximum differential pressure of 1.5 bar ensures correct operation under typical system conditions.
