How does the daikin Altherma 3 Integrated R32 air-water heat pump work?

 

Its operation, in a nutshell, is given by the presence of a closed circuit within which there is a refrigerant fluid subject to cyclic changes of state, which precisely passes from the liquid to the vaporized phase and vice versa. These changes obviously result in changes in pressure and temperature, which occur first at the level of the evaporator where, by acquiring heat from the air, the heat pump is able precisely to transform the fluid from liquid to vapor. At this point, using electrical energy instead, there will again be a transition to the liquid state at the height of the compressor, and at this stage the machinery gives up heat to the system, all of which occurs cyclically and is terminated by means of an expansion valve that allows the fluid to return to its starting conditions.

Considering the energy balance related to the operation of the heat pump we surely realize that this is essentially positive, meaning in these terms that the share of thermal energy produced is at least 5 times greater than the expenditure of electricity. The advantage then of being able to use the machinery both in summer, to cool, and in winter, to heat, makes it one of the most convenient solutions in the domestic sphere, without considering the fact that the whole can be associated with the presence of a photovoltaic system, which would further increase the aforementioned convenience. In addition, the non-use of combustion sources associated with the use of electricity, which, as mentioned, can be self-produced by photovoltaics, brings the system into a framework of almost total cost reduction. We are therefore referring to solar thermodynamic, a system through which the special features of heat pumps and a thermal-type solar collector are combined with a small solar panel, a compressor component, and a water tank.

High performance: The Daikin Altherma 3 chiller's innovative R32-based Inverter compressor with Bluevolution technology, combined with climate control, enables high performance with associated lower operating costs. Already ready for A+++ class, the new Altherma 3 range achieves a nominal COP value of 5.1 at 7°C outdoor and 35°C flow and a COP of 3.3 in domestic hot water production (EN16147). Capable of reaching flow temperatures of up to 65°C at high efficiency, Daikin Altherma 3 with R32 is suitable for both underfloor heating and using radiators, and maintains renowned frost protection features down to -25°C for reliable operation even in the coldest climates.

 

Ease of installation: Ten years of experience in creating air-to-water heat pumps and more than 350,000 units installed throughout Europe have resulted in a new range that is easier and faster to install and use. Setup has been simplified with a new wizard that allows installers to configure the unit in just a few steps and get it up and running quickly. Configuration of the unit, depending on the type of system and requirements, can also be done remotely and then uploaded to the unit's electronic board on the day of installation via USB or SD Card.
