How does a heat pump work?

The operation is characterized by a closed-loop system with a refrigerant fluid inside (for issues of eco-sustainability today, R-32 refrigerant, also known as difluoromethane or Freon 32, is almost always used) subject to a cyclic change of state, moving from the liquid phase to vapor and back; this obviously occurs with an expenditure of electricity, as the heat pump extracts and transfers thermal energy by employing electrical energy. According to the laws of technical physics and psychrometry, there will be variations in pressure and temperature, and the heat pump takes advantage of these variations occurring at the evaporator and compressor, resulting in a very advantageous overall efficiency or coefficient of performance (COP), even exceeding 4-5. It means that for every electric kW spent, as a result you have 4-5 kW of heat output generated by the system.
