Clapet check valves with N5 rubber-metal seal are one-way devices, i.e. they prevent the fluid from returning under pressure. They are naturally used in sanitary water systems, water elevation, fire-fighting, heating systems, thermal power stations, solar systems, industrial and agricultural water systems in general. The internal hydraulic seal is achieved by means of the forces exerted by the mass of a tilting shutter and by the pressure of the liquid above a gasket that implements the seal even at minimum counter-pressures. Since these valves operate by means of the gravitational force acting on the swinging plug (clapet or clapper), they do not have universal characteristics as far as positioning is concerned. The advantage of these valves is the low pressure drop thanks to the rounded shape of the body and the large passage section obtained by the oscillation of the shutter; these elements also make them very silent.

Installation: The clapet check valves can be installed in horizontal or vertical position respecting the flow direction indicated by the arrow stamped on the valve body. In horizontal position the valve must be installed with the inspection plug facing upwards, otherwise the valve cannot operate. In vertical position the valve works only with the upward flow direction. Mounting on pipes is done by means of threads, using normal hydraulic practices.
Maintenance: Check the valve periodically, depending on the frequency of use and working conditions. If there are any leaks in correspondence of the seal, these can be caused by deposits or foreign bodies. In this case it is possible to disassemble the inspection plug situated on the upper part of the valve in order to verify the state of the shutter and clean the gasket removing with compressed air or mechanical action all the impurities. This operation can be carried out after having previously emptied the concerned area of the plant.
