ABB S204-63D: robust protection for loads with high inrush currents

The ABB S204-63D 63A is a circuit breaker from the System pro M compact S200 family, designed to protect electrical installations from overloads and short circuits with maximum service continuity. The 4-pole version is perfect for three-phase lines with neutral or for circuits where it is necessary to simultaneously interrupt all protected conductors, increasing the safety of the system and simplifying maintenance.

Curve D: the right choice for motors, transformers, and heavy lines

The curve D is designed for applications with high inrush currents: the magnetic trip threshold is between 10 and 29 times the rated current. In practice, this prevents unwanted tripping during the start-up of motors, the power supply of transformers, or loads with high inrush current (for example, some power supplies and industrial equipment). It is the ideal solution when a curve C circuit breaker would risk too frequent tripping during start-up phases.

Breaking capacity and performance: 6 kA for system protection

The device is rated with a short-circuit breaking capacity of 6 kA (AC/DC), suitable for distribution boards and installations where a reliable interruption level consistent with upstream protection is required. The energy limitation class 3 helps reduce the passing energy in case of a short circuit, containing thermal and dynamic stresses on cables and connected components: a tangible advantage for the longevity of the system.

Immediate status control: ON/OFF always visible

The status indication is clear and immediate: red = ON, green = OFF. In an electrical panel, this detail saves time during checks, interventions, and maintenance, especially when operating on multiple lines or in industrial environments where quick diagnosis is essential.

Compact and DIN rail mountable: perfect for modular panels

With a 4-module footprint and dimensions of 70×88×69 mm, the S204-63D easily integrates into standard modular panels. The terminal tightening torque of 2.8 N·m allows for stable and secure wiring, reducing the risk of loosening over time. The robustness is also supported by the endurance cycles: 10,000 electrical AC and 20,000 mechanical, for a long operational life even in challenging contexts.

AC/DC: flexibility of use

The AC/DC compatibility broadens the application scenarios, making the device suitable for both traditional alternating current circuits and certain direct current lines (always in compliance with the installation specifications and coordination with upstream protections).
