How to select the right lightbulb socket
To purchase the bulb with the correct socket, simply pay attention to the type of socket in the lamp holder, usually indicated by a specific acronym.
But what is, technically, the socket? It is the connector through which the bulb is powered. Power is transferred from the system to the bulb without the risk of burning or overheating.
Below is a diagram with the most common bulb socket and their abbreviations.

E14 – E27 socket
Lightbulbs with E27 or E14 socket are the most common. The E27 socket has a large thread, while the E14 has a tight thread. Both are commonly used in flats, installed in chandeliers, wall and ceiling lights. The number (14 or 27) indicates the diameter: 14mm or 27mm.
Curiosity: the ‘E’ in the acronym stands for Edison, since the invention of the light bulb is attributed to Thomas Edison in the early 1900s and these, in particular, were the first light bulbs he invented.

GU10 socket
Lightbulbs with GU10 socket are generally used for spotlights. Mounting these bulbs is simple: insert the two connectors into the holes in the lamp holder and rotate until the bulb is locked.

Two-pin socket
Two-pin socket lightbulbs have 2 pins, placed at a certain distance which determines their designation. If the pins are 5.3 mm apart, the bulb will be a GU5.3; if the distance is 4 mm, it will be a GU4, and so on.

R7S socket
The R7S socket is used in LED spotlights with small chips on the surface. This type of socket is common in outdoor spotlights and floodlights. To connect this type of bulb, simply insert it with light pressure into the bulb holder.
